From agent pilots to governed production

Governed Agent Execution Accelerator

About

A SaaS B2B business working with Cloud Combinator on AWS. The client is anonymised at their request.

Challenge

The feasibility work confirmed a buyer pain that is real and consistent across the target market. It breaks down into three focus areas.

The pilot-to-production gap

Teams can demonstrate an agent in a sandbox but cannot move it into production with an approved control model. Without a safe pattern for agents to take real actions, promising pilots stall indefinitely and the business value never lands.

Unsafe and fragile integrations

Agentic execution depends on reliable access to core systems, CRM, ticketing, payments, identity, and data stores. Most customers have not hardened those

Governance and auditability blockers

Risk and compliance teams cannot sign off on non-deterministic behaviour they cannot trace. Without approvals, deterministic execution, and complete audit evidence, agent workflows fail the internal controls, security reviews, and vendor risk assessments that regulated buyers must pass.

Solution

Everything runs inside the customer's own AWS account. A trigger, a case created, an onboarding request, a claims event, or a support escalation, is picked up by an agent runtime built on Amazon Bedrock. The agent proposes actions bounded to an approved action catalogue, but it never calls the customer's systems directly. Instead it calls the client, which acts as the governed execution layer.

Public APIs searchable by agents, plus private API ingestion

By the numbers:

  • 12 weeks - From agent pilot to governed production execution
  • 2-3 - Governed, audited workflows deployed to production per pilot
  • 10,000+ - Public APIs searchable by agents, plus private API ingestion
Changes

The engagement produced a repeatable, ship-to-production programme rather than an one-off proof of concept, validated as commercially and technically feasible for delivery through the BOX programme and available to customers through the AWS Marketplace.

  • A productised joint offerThe AI Readiness and Governed Agent Execution Accelerator packages readiness assessment, sandbox validation, integration remediation, and governed production deployment into one repeatable engagement.
  • Governed, auditable execution by defaultDeterministic execution, approvals, and complete audit evidence are built in, so agent workflows stand up to internal controls, security reviews, and compliance sign-off.
  • Integration gaps closed, not just flaggedCloud Combinator hardens the real-world data and API foundations agents depend on, which is where most pilots break down.
  • A continuous flywheelOnce installed, the sandbox keeps surfacing new workflows ready to deploy and gaps in the underlying data and API layer, feeding an ongoing "Workflow Factory" of expansion work (projected model, to be proven with design-partner pilots).
  • HandoverCloud Combinator acts as first line of support for pilot accounts, with runbooks, admin training at handover, and a defined escalation path to the client for platform-level issues.

With the solution defined and the commercial model agreed through AWS Marketplace co-sell, the partnership moves to securing its first design-partner pilots, turning a proven blueprint into reference customers and a scalable regulated-AI delivery motion.
