7

Sustainability

Reduce energy use and resource waste by optimising efficiency and building a greener, more responsible cloud.

Common Cloud Challenges That Hold Businesses Back

Running workloads on AWS gives you speed and scalability, but it also brings new challenges. Many organisations struggle with:

  • Rising Costs: Resources that aren’t optimised can quickly increase bills.

  • Security Risks: Misconfigurations or outdated practices leave workloads exposed.

  • Performance Issues: Architectures that aren’t stress tested may fail under growth or heavy demand.

  • Unclear Priorities: Teams often don’t know which improvements will make the biggest impact.

A Well-Architected Framework Review helps resolve these challenges by shining a light on risks and inefficiencies, then providing a prioritised roadmap for change. Instead of guessing where to focus, you gain clear guidance backed by AWS best practices thereby helping you cut costs, strengthen security, and build a cloud environment that’s ready to grow with your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a structured assessment, led by certified AWS Partners, that evaluates your cloud workloads against AWS best practices across six pillars: security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, operational excellence, and sustainability.

Partners bring deep expertise, context from other customer engagements, and hands-on support for remediation. Working with a partner also makes you eligible for AWS funding or credits to offset the cost of implementing improvements.

Most reviews can be completed in a few sessions over 1–2 weeks, depending on the complexity of your workloads. The time investment is small compared to the long-term benefits of improved security, efficiency, and scalability.

You’ll receive a detailed report highlighting risks, prioritised recommendations, and a practical roadmap for improvements. Many customers also gain AWS credits to support remediation.

No. The review process is non-invasive and based on guided discussions and architecture diagrams. Any remediation work is planned with you and implemented safely, without downtime.

The review itself is usually delivered at no cost through AWS’s WAFR program. If you choose to implement the recommended changes, AWS often provides service credits that can offset or fully cover the cost.

Any organisation running workloads on AWS can benefit. Whether you’re scaling rapidly, aiming to reduce costs, or improving security posture, a WAFR helps you get there faster.
